The Jazz Division of the Illinois Music Educators Association has a long standing tradition of commissioning a piece each year for the All State Jazz Ensemble. The chart has always been written by a composer who is from Illinois or has had close ties to the state. The chart for 2007 is written by Allan Horney, a respected educator who has been a faculty member at Eastern Illinois University for over 30 years.
