Lessons

Lessons are scheduled for the same time every week and can begin at any time. Students receive weekly half-hour private lessons. Most months there will be four lessons per month. Sorry, missed lessons cannot be rescheduled. When there are five lesson days in a month, students will receive the fifth lesson at no extra charge – a real bonus! This free lesson will help compensate for any missed lessons throughout the year.

Bonus Lessons

As compensation for any missed lesson appointments, Quinlan and Fabish Music will bonus a free lesson in any month where 5 lesson days exist provided the fifth lesson day is not a holiday.

Tuition, Fees and Payment Options

Registration -- A one-time non-refundable registration fee of $30 per student will be charged when a lesson time is selected. Payment of the registration fee takes place at the time the student is registered for the lesson. The registration fee covers all administrative tasks associated with the lesson program. In the event that a student takes a “leave of absence” from lessons, the registration fee will be waived should the student return within 90 days.

Tuition -- Tuition payment for lessons is made monthly and in advance, due by the end of the prior month. Payment is made to Quinlan and Fabish Music Company. Lesson payments may be made by cash, check, money order, MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover. If a student’s tuition payment is not received prior to the start of the month, they may be removed from the lesson schedule. Many parents elect to sign up for one of our auto-payment options to reserve their lesson time. Lessons paid using this automatic payment option are processed the 17th of the prior month at a discounted rate.

Absences

Lessons are scheduled on a monthly basis reserving a regular time slot for the student. Inability to attend a lesson on a student’s part does not excuse tuition payment. Cancelled or missed lessons cannot be rescheduled.

If your teacher cancels your lesson or if the store is closed for a holiday or due to inclement weather, you will not be charged for that lesson. We will create a credit to be applied towards the next month’s lesson tuition.

Tardiness

If you are late for a lesson, that lesson will still end at the scheduled time as a courtesy to the next student. If a student is late for a lesson, the instructor is required to wait for at least half of the lesson time. After that time, the student is considered absent. If the student has two consecutive absences without notifying Quinlan and Fabish (“no phone call, no show”) they may be removed from the lesson schedule

If the teacher is late for a lesson, students are asked to wait through one third of the lesson time. Once that time has passed, the student may leave, after checking in with the lesson coordinator so that, with the expectation of a credit for that lesson.

Discontinuing Lessons

If you choose to discontinue lessons, two weeks (fourteen days) notice is required. Please notify the lesson coordinator at your store or email lessons@QandF.com to provide notice of discontinuation. Simply notifying your instructor will not remove you from the schedule.

Tuition payment is required for all lesson appointments that fall within 14 days after your notice of discontinuation is received. Failure to provide proper notice to the lesson coordinator or via email does not excuse tuition payment for any lesson appointments that are held for you.

Holidays

No lessons will be conducted on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas Day. Students will receive a credit for the missed lesson unless there are five lesson days within the holiday month.

Emergency Closings/Weather Cancellations

The decision to close Quinlan and Fabish Music stores is based on many factors: safety conditions, the National Weather Service and state advisories. Should Quinlan and Fabish determine that the store will close all reasonable efforts will be made to contact students and they will receive a credit for the missed lesson.

Repairs

Most Quinlan and Fabish Music stores have a repair shop on the premises. Instructors should not spend significant lesson time attempting to repair a student’s instrument.

Quinlan and Fabish Music Products

As one of the country’s largest music dealers, we select and purchase for our stores new and exciting products. Teachers receive basic information on these products and may occasionally recommend them for student purchase.

Students who are looking for a new instrument may benefit from the teacher’s advice by trying instruments from the Quinlan and Fabish retail floor during the lesson process.

Payment for all products is due upon receipt. Quinlan and Fabish Music products may not be loaned out by a teacher.

Photography and Publicity

Occasional photos may be taken for use in company brochures, advertising or other public relations projects. Photographs featuring students are considered eligible for publication unless the student or parent/guardian of a student under the age of 18 submits in writing a request for non-use. Any such request should be sent to lessons@QandF.com .
