Taught at DePaul University and St. Xavier College. Throughout his forty-year teaching career he was responsible for starting scores of band programs in the Catholic grade schools throughout the Chicagoland area. Many of his former students continued in music. Noteworthy students in the music profession include: Lee Loughnane (Trumpeter with the rock band, Chicago) and many Chicagoland area band directors.

George Quinlan, Jr.

Professional Experience
Prior to joining Q&F, George worked in marketing at both The Selmer Company & G. Leblanc Corporation.
Always involved in Music Education, the "family business" has blossomed into the leading school music retailer in the Chicagoland area in recent years.
George currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for VanderCook College of Music and the board of directors for NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants-International Music Products Association). He also serves as Secretary/Treasurer of NASMD (National Association of School Music Dealers) and previously served on the board of directors of the South Shore Brass Band.
Other
In spite of a very active professional schedule, he enjoys playing in Sundance, a popular Chicago "party" band which performs at festivals, nightclubs, and private parties. He lives with his wife, Cindy and their three children in Palos Park.

Alan Szafranski

Alan has gone from sweeping floors to Vice President in the past 30 years with Quinlan & Fabish. His vast experience brings a unique perspective that most roadmen never have the chance to develop.

He was a featured presenter at the 1999 National Association of School Music Dealers annual conference.
Interests
In addition to raising 3 children with his lovely wife Karen, Alan also finds time to serve as a Scout Leader. Other interests include golf and snowmobiling.

Marsha Orwig

18 Years Experience as a private teacher.
Did her Internship at Q&F and never left!! Originally worked in customer service and managed the sheet music department. Prior to her current position, Marsha managed the customer service team.

She has been involved with school music all her life, as her father was a band director.
Plays bassoon with the Southwest Symphony Orchestra and the Southwinds Woodwind Quintet.
Member of Sigma Alpha Iota, professional music fraternity for women.

Lloyd Palmiter

Lloyd holds a Master’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, and Western Kentucky University and has taken graduate coursework in music, music education and humanities at Indiana University at South Bend, University of Evansville, and The University of Michigan.
Professional Experience
Lloyd taught cello and public school orchestra in communities in Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Alabama. Prior to his association with Quinlan and Fabish, he served as a clinician and product representative in the stringed instrument industry.
Other
Lloyd serves as a clinician and guest conductor in many string programs where his workshops on tone production as related to the making of the stringed instruments have become very popular.

David Virkus

Professional Experience
Before joining Q&F, David taught Middle School Band at Jefferson M.S. in Villa Park. Prior to coming back to the "Windy City", he taught band, general music, and chorus in the Catholic Schools of Bloomington/Normal and Heyworth, Illinois.  Since becoming part of the Q&F family in 1999, David has worked as a Customer Service Representative, Assistant Manager, and Customer Service Manager before moving on to his current position.
